office of the lingo coroner
House Rules
the short version: no accounts, few secrets, and you can take your words back whenever you like.
who you are here
Nobody. There is no account and no sign-up. When you first do something, the site puts a random identifier in a cookie called dl_sid so it can attribute your votes and show you your own shelf. It is not linked to a name, an email, or anything else.
Clear your cookies and that shelf is gone, because there is nothing else holding it. That is the trade for not asking you to register.
what is kept
The phrases you file, the votes you cast, the regions you report, and any statement you write. All of it against that cookie identifier, never against a name.
Your network address is hashed with a secret and used to stop one person flooding the site or taking someone else’s phrase down. The address itself is never stored.
No analytics, no advertising trackers, no third-party scripts on the pages. Server logs exist because servers have logs.
taking it back
Go to your crypt and remove anything you left, one item at a time or all of it at once. Words you wrote are deleted outright.
A phrase you filed that other people have since voted on stays, with your name off it. Their votes are theirs, not yours, and taking the grave would take those too.
what gets taken down
Slurs, harassment, sexual content involving minors, and anything aimed at a real named private individual. Filed phrases are public immediately, and are removed when reported or when the coroner reads them, whichever comes first.
Report anything from the phrase’s own page. Enough reports hide it straight away and ask a human afterwards, on the view that taking something down early and restoring it later is the cheaper mistake.
what the coroner writes
The reports are written by a language model and released by a human before anyone sees them. They are entertainment about words, not scholarship, and the model can be confidently wrong about an origin or a date.
If a report says something false, dispute it on the phrase’s page or write to us. The community can overrule the coroner, which is the whole point of the place.
reaching a person
No contact address is configured for this deployment yet. Set NEXT_PUBLIC_CONTACT_EMAIL before making the site public: an anonymous archive with no way to reach a human is not one that should be open.
Written in plain language on purpose. If something here is unclear, that is a bug and we would like to hear about it.
